Whenever my mom visits me in Boston her first request is to go to the Haymarket. Located around the corner from Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall, Haymarket is an outdoor market that sells the cheapest priced produce that you will see - a bundle of kale for $1, two cartons of strawberries for $2.50, and Haas avocados for 99¢!
It can get overwhelming at times because there people trying to squeeze by the small aisles and vendors are yelling prices at the top of their lungs. It's a pretty fast paced "pick, pay, and go" system and seeing my mom in action reminds me of the street markets in Korea.
My mom came home with 7 bags of produce on Saturday, 4 of which we inhaled that day for dinner. The quality of the produce isn't always perfect but for the price that you're paying, I think it's totally worth it.
Through trial and error we've found that it's best to eat your purchases within 2-3 days. Veggies are easy to cook right into a dish but we'll freeze any leftover fruit and use it to make smoothies throughout the week!
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends and is ready for a fresh new Monday. You can do itttttt! :)
love, MH<3
